San Diego City Firefighters Endorse Lorena Gonzalez

Pro-Jobs Democrat’s Longtime Advocacy For Public Safety In San Diego’s Neighborhoods Earns Endorsement From First Responders in 80th Assembly District Race

SAN DIEGO – (Wednesday, March 13, 2013) – The San Diego City Firefighters have endorsed pro-jobs Democrat Lorena Gonzalez in the Assembly District 80 special election, the firefighters announced today.

San Diego City Firefighters Local 145 represents about 800 firefighters and other first responders working in the City of San Diego’s Fire-Rescue Department. The firefighters said they support Lorena for her tireless advocacy to restore public safety services to the residents of San Diego.

"When some city leaders tried to cut firefighter and emergency response resources that led to fire station brown-outs and longer response times, Lorena stood with us to fight back," said Frank DeClercq, President of San Diego City Firefighters Local 145. "We need Lorena's leadership and her courage to do what's right in the State Capitol."

Lorena is a candidate to replace State Sentor-elect Ben Hueso in the 80th Assembly District, which includes Chula Vista, National City and the City of San Diego neighborhoods of San Ysidro, City Heights, Barrio Logan, Sherman Heights, Otay Mesa, Paradise Hills and Golden Hill.
