Endorsement for Aguirre?

I received and e-mail last night from a friend who is a member of the County Democratic Party Central Committee, the e-mail lists over a dozen incumbents to be considered for early endorsements on tonight's agenda. On the list is Mike Aguirre. My friend also tells me Aguirre should win the endorsement fairly easily even though another Democrat Dan Coffey is an announced candidate for City Attorney.

The question I would ask: Has Mike Aguirre been good for the County Democratic Party, and is he worth the early endorsement?

In other news.... last night the San Diego Republicans met and endorsed the following:

D1: NO ONE (big big surprise as it was supposed to be Phil Thalheimer; committee cited "multiple Rs in race") Apparantly the debate on this race was brutal. Thalheimer got a majority but not 2/3rds.

D3: NO ONE

D5: Carl DeMaio (interesting given the outcome of D1--and given Carl's orientation) the tally was a lopsided 78%. I confess, I'm a bit dumbfounded on this one.

D7: April Boling (no surprise)

Why the rush to endorse Aguirre? He has been a marginal Dem at best. What happens if he combusts before January and we have another Democrat jump in?

I'm not surprised about Aguirre. While he's been driving everyone else nuts, Mike has been pretty good about connecting with the Central Committee. During the endorsement meetings, it's all about the personal connections.

I'm going to be at tonight's meeting and will speak up that Mike doesn't deserve the party endorsement. And plan to vote against him.

What do the democrats gain with this early endorsement other than white-washing Mike's past? And what has he done for the Party? The Central Committee isn't know for it's brilliance but its ability to be wrong. Let's see if this trend keeps up.

Yes, I am curious too as to the outcome. I truly hope no endorsement was given as Mike has been an embarassment to the Democratic Party.

Good News -

Mike didn't get the endorsement however he likely will get the regular incumbent endorsement in January since it was a close vote.
