Followup on the 78th Race

I have received several e-mails today regarding the race in the 78th. Regarding endorsements, I'm told that the San Diego County Central Committee does not endorse in partisan races. Hence there will not be another opportunity for Marty Block to come up short on the required votes for a Democratic Party endorsement.

Speaking of endorsements, I have been told be several people that Speaker Karen Bass didn't endorse Auday Arabo. He does have the endorsement from former Speaker Fabian Nunez just not Bass' endorsement. There is a rumor going around that if Speaker Bass does choose to endorse in the race, she will endorse Arlie Ricasa. Stay tune for more....

Also, heard labor is getting worried about Marty Block and may drop his endorsement at the state level.

The speaker will be speaker through this election. This bodes well for Arabo.

Labor is strongly behind block - that is just wishful thinking on someone's part.

The party standard-bearer will be Marty Block. Voters in the 78th don't know or care who Fabian Nunez is. All he can bring is money to a candidate who's liability is NOT a lack of campaign funds.

The SEIU local is 100% behind Marty, and that isn't going to change.

So, Marty has Labor, the largest Democratic Party endorsements, is second in fundraising only to someone who can't win, and comes from the part of the district with the highest voter turnout.

Hmm.. That's a recipe for victory.

If Block is the favorite, why couldn't he get the endorsement from the party after two attempts?

78th is taking up all of our time.
Here are my views on it and on our local San Diego races.

Everyone likes to talk about Block and Arabo. Labor thinks that they are the only show in town. what about women democrats? I wonder if the person representing labor on this blog is willing to minimize the role of women voters in this election.

After Arabo and Block finish thrashing each other...I am hopefull that Arlie Ricasa, a progressive woman of color will lead our ticket in November for the 78th Assembly District. Dr Sherard had her chance leading the ticket two years ago.

I agree that money is not everything...look at Dr. Sherard, Hall, and Davis...they had all they needed. Who's votes is Sherard going to neutralize. Ricasa's, Block's or Arabo's.

Pay attention high propensity decline to state voters...obama folks may just turn out to vote in this election too.

Back to reality...
We need Shelia, Richard and John Lee, Marty Emerald, Mike Aguirre (yes haters--an incumbent democrat will win again)and Stephen to move forward as blue san diego.

There are those in labor who like some if not all the candidates. Still, Marty won the Labor Council endorsement. I don't speak for labor, but I am involved. I know we do most the door to door in these races, like it or not.
