Statement from Speaker John Pérez: We Need Scott Peters in D.C.
San Diego, CA -- In a statement regarding the race for the 52nd Congressional District, California Assembly Speaker John A. Pérez (D-Los Angeles) had this to say:
“As Speaker of the Assembly, I know how important coalitions are to getting things done. Scott Peters knows how to build consensus to create real progress. That's why he would be successful in Congress—Scott Peters doesn't throw bombs, he finds solutions. We need more of that in Washington.”
Pérez served with Lori Saldaña in the California State Assembly in 2009 and 2010; he presided over her as Speaker in 2010. Pérez appointed Scott Peters as an alternate to the California Coastal Commission in 2011.
